At African Grey for adoption, we understand that plans can change. That’s why we’ve created a fair and flexible refund policy to ensure peace of mind throughout your adoption journey.

A deposit is required to reserve your African Grey parrot. This deposit secures your chosen bird and removes them from the market for you.

  • Full Refund:Ā If you cancel your reservation withinĀ 7 daysĀ of placing your deposit and before the final payment is made, we will issue a 100% refund of your deposit upon request.

  • Partial Refund or Credit:Ā If you cancel after 7 days, your deposit becomesĀ non-refundable. This is because we will have turned away other potential adopters and incurred costs for care during this period. However, in certain extenuating circumstances, we may, at our discretion, offer a partial refund or credit toward a future parrot.

  • Holding Fee:Ā In all cases, if the parrot was held exclusively for you and missed other adoption opportunities, a minimum holding fee may be deducted from any refund.


šŸ” Full Payment Refunds

If you have paid in full and need to cancel before delivery or pickup, the following policy applies:

  • Full Refund:Ā If you cancel withinĀ 48 hoursĀ of making the full payment, you are eligible for a full refund, minus any non-recoverable costs we have already incurred (e.g., specific vet fees already paid).

  • Partial Refund:Ā If you cancel after 48 hours of full payment, your refund will be calculated based on the non-recoverable costs we have incurred to prepare for your parrot’s departure. These costs may include, but are not limited to:

    • Final avian veterinary health certificate

    • Purchase of a specific travel carrier

    • Non-refundable bookings with our IPATA-certified transport partners

    • Administrative fees


šŸ“¦ After Delivery or Pickup

Once your African Grey parrot has been delivered to you or picked up from our aviary, the adoption fee is non-refundable.

We stand behind the health of our parrots with ourĀ Lifetime Support Guarantee. Refunds after transfer of ownership are only considered in the following rare situation:

  • šŸ”¬ Health Guarantee Claim:Ā If a serious, genetically-linked health issue is confirmed by a certified avian veterinarian within the timeframe and terms outlined in our separateĀ Health GuaranteeĀ document, and a replacement parrot is not possible or desired, we will work with you on a case-by-case basis to determine a fair resolution.


āŒ Refunds Are Not Provided For:

  • Change of mind or personal circumstances after delivery.

  • Allergies discovered within the household after delivery.

  • Relocation, housing changes, or lifestyle changes.

  • Behavioral challenges, which we provide lifetime support to help you manage.
